5+ Ways To Help Your Unusual Monthly Cycle

Herbology · Wellness

Let’s take care of your health “down there.”

As a woman, I know my monthly cycle is an important part of my health. A cycle that is disrupted can signal to other disturbances that need to be rebalanced in the body.

Are you having irregular cycles? Skipping a cycle although not pregnant, having multiple cycles in a month, or varying amounts of days between cycles?

Unusually heavy or light bleeding, or abnormal clotting? Spotting at random times?

Getting your period when you haven’t had one in years?

There are many things that can feel “off” about your cycle – but the good news is, that there are many things that can help.

What Can Cause My Cycle to Be Disrupted?

There are many things that can disrupt your cycle, so this certainly won’t be an exhaustive list. However, I have had many clients over the years (but especially in the last 4-6 weeks) come to me with problems with their cycles. Here are just a few causes of disrupted cycles:

Every BODY is different, and every body is in different circumstances and environments. If you’re concerned about your cycle, I would recommend reading through this article and this one about rebalancing hormones, as well as consulting with a health practitioner you trust.

What Can I Do To Rebalance My Monthly Cycle?

There are many ways to rebalance your monthly cycle. It certainly helps if you discover the root cause, but doing these things can set you on a track to a healthier cycle. (Be sure to look at this article for even more tools and information on this topic.)

DETOX CHEMICALS.

The times we live in today expose us to more chemicals than ever before – they are in our food, air, water, home products, personal products, clothing, furniture, vehicles, environment, and so much more. Many of these chemicals are endocrine disruptors, meaning they cause disturbances in the hormonal system of the body. Endocrine disruptors have been linked to infertility, PCOS, endometriosis, cancers, obesity, ADD, and so, so much more.

Here’s how to detox:

GET GROUNDED & IN THE SUN.

More and more science is emerging that shows reconnecting your body to the earth’s surface is beneficial for your health. The earth is like a battery that recharges us. Moreover, “grounding” (or earthing as it is also called) improves pain, sleep, inflammation and stress. Literally being grounded is a way to move the body back into balance, which can help improve your cycle. Although taking off your shoes and walking on the earth barefoot is the best way to connect with the earth’s surface electrons, there are also products that you can use to this end. I have been loving the amazing sleep I get with this grounding mat for our bed! I also use another grounding mat under my feet while working or sitting.

The sun has been characterized as a foe for a long time – yet, it is the very thing that governs so much of life on earth. Studies show that the sun helps regulate hormones and impacts fertility. From what I have seen in my practice, the sun assists with hormone regulation and the rebalancing of monthly cycles as well. See this article for more on how the sun benefits you, plus tried-and-true practices for sun exposure.

SOUND & MUSIC THERAPY.

Sound creates vibration, and your body responds to vibration – on a cellular level, as this 2018 study shows. This is evidenced over and over in scientific literature, from speeding up wound-healing to destroying tumors. This study shows that nature sounds relax the nervous system and put the brain & body into “rest and digest” mode (versus “fight or flight.”)

Sound is created from a vibration. Everything on earth is vibrating at varying frequencies, even solid matter. Waves of energy (vibration) can travel through and affect matter… particularly, our bodies. Creating an environment with positive and healing frequencies can affect your body in a beneficial way. Bringing such vibrations into the body makes it harder for lower vibration conditions to exist (illness, dis-easements, etc).

To bring a higher, more healing vibration into your environment, surround yourself with nature sounds (whether in nature or through a device if you’re unable to be outdoors), positive affirmations or communication, and uplifting music.

TAKE HIGH QUALITY SUPPLEMENTS.

Supplementation with high-quality products is a potent way to support your body through any symptoms or condition. Make sure you are working with a health practitioner when adding new supplements to your regimen.

It has been my experience in over a decade of my practice that I end up recommending these five supplements to just about every client I see. If you are experiencing difficulty with your monthly cycle, I recommend taking a look at that article.

Other supplements to support a regular monthly cycle:

USE THESE ESSENTIAL OILS.

Essential oils are an amazing gift from nature. For more about essential oils and how to use them, see this article.

Specific oils* for menstrual support:

You can take a carrier oil such as St. John’s Wort or calendula in your hand, add a few drops of 1-2 of the above oils, and massage on the lower navel/uterus area, as well as the lower back where the lymph to the uterus is. You can do this 1-2 times daily.

*After a decade of testing out countless brands of oils, the only one I have found to be most effective is the Primavera brand from Goddess of Spring. If you wish to purchase, you can use my code amberbodilyhealth for a discount at checkout.

Believe In A Healthy You.

Your body has been supporting you in life for many years. You have distrusted it at times, or criticized it at times. But it is the very thing carrying you through life. At all times it is fighting for you to stay alive to be able to experience life around you. Your body is resilient. Your body is powerful. Your body can heal, and you can feel good again.

I hope these tools are helpful in your health journey. All my blessings to you,

Amber Bodily
